Lottery Number Generator

Generate random Powerball, Mega Millions and lottery numbers instantly. Pick your lucky numbers with one click.
What this generator produces
This tool builds complete number lines for three of the most widely played lottery formats. Powerball lines are five distinct numbers from 1 to 69 plus one Powerball from 1 to 26. Mega Millions lines are five distinct numbers from 1 to 70 plus one Mega Ball from 1 to 25. Lotto 6/49 lines are six distinct numbers from 1 to 49 with no bonus ball. Every line is produced locally in your browser, and the numbers inside a line never repeat.
It is a quick-pick generator: it does not read past draw results, does not weigh "hot" or "cold" numbers, and does not claim to improve your chances. What it does is remove the fiddly part of filling in a slip by hand.
How to use it
- Choose a game from the dropdown: Powerball, Mega Millions or Lotto 6/49.
- Set Lines to 1, 5 or 10 to decide how many separate number sets you want.
- Click Generate Numbers to fill the card with numbered balls.
- Click Copy to put every line, with the game name and each bonus ball, on your clipboard.
Nothing is stored. Reloading the page, or generating again, replaces the current lines with new ones, so copy anything you want to keep before you leave.
The odds of each game, in plain numbers
A ticket is one combination out of every combination the game allows. Those totals are fixed arithmetic, not estimates:
| Game | Format | Total combinations | Jackpot odds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Powerball | 5 of 69 plus 1 of 26 | 292,201,338 | 1 in 292,201,338 |
| Mega Millions | 5 of 70 plus 1 of 25 | 302,575,350 | 1 in 302,575,350 |
| Lotto 6/49 | 6 of 49 | 13,983,816 | 1 in 13,983,816 |
For Powerball the figure is the number of ways to choose 5 numbers from 69 (11,238,513) multiplied by the 26 possible Powerballs. Mega Millions multiplies 12,103,014 combinations of five from 70 by 25 Mega Balls. Lotto 6/49 is a single combination count of 6 from 49.
The odds of winning any prize are far friendlier than the jackpot odds, because most prizes come from matching one or two numbers: roughly 1 in 25 for Powerball and about 1 in 24 for Mega Millions. Those small prizes are also where most of the money returned to players actually sits.
For scale, 1 in 292 million is a little like naming one specific second inside a period of about nine years. That is the size of the target you are aiming at with a single line.
Does picking your own numbers beat a quick pick?
No. Every valid combination is equally likely, so a line you chose by hand and a line generated here have exactly the same probability. There is no arrangement of numbers that is "due", and no arrangement that is mathematically stronger.
What your choice does change is how many people you might share a jackpot with. Numbers 1 to 31 are heavily over-picked because players use birthdays, anniversaries and calendar dates, so a winning line made of low numbers tends to be split among more winners. Lines that include numbers above 31, or that look "random" rather than meaningful, are picked by fewer people. That does not change your chance of winning; it can change the size of the cheque if you do.
Why "hot", "cold" and pattern systems do not work
Lottery draws are independent. A ball that came up last week is exactly as likely to come up this week as any other ball, because the equipment has no memory of the previous draw. Treating a number as "due" after a long absence is the gambler's fallacy, and treating one as "hot" is the same mistake wearing a different hat.
Systems that do change something are the ones that change how many tickets you hold. Wheeling, for example, buys many lines built from a pool of chosen numbers so that if enough of your pool is drawn you are guaranteed some smaller prize. That reshapes the distribution of outcomes - fewer big wins, more small ones - but the total you spend rises with every line, and the expected return per dollar does not improve.
What a ticket actually returns
A Powerball ticket costs 2 dollars. Ignoring taxes, the chance of splitting the jackpot and the smaller prize tiers altogether, the jackpot portion of the expected value would only reach 2 dollars at a jackpot somewhere above 580 million dollars, because that is roughly 2 dollars multiplied by the 292 million combinations. Once you add the smaller prizes, taxes on a large win, the fact that advertised jackpots are annuity totals rather than cash, and the chance of sharing, the real break-even point moves higher again.
The practical reading: a ticket buys entertainment and a few days of imagining, not an investment. Decide what that is worth to you before you buy, and treat anything generated here the same way you would treat a quick pick at the counter.
Other things random numbers are good for
Uniform randomness is genuinely useful well beyond the lottery, and this is the same kind of output you need for those jobs:
- Fair draws: picking a raffle winner, choosing who pays for lunch, or ordering a group for a game, where nobody should be able to influence the result.
- Sampling: selecting items to inspect or test when checking a batch.
- Games and tabletop: generating numbers where dice or cards are not handy.
- Teaching probability: running many lines makes the gap between intuition and arithmetic concrete, which is hard to feel from a single ticket.
How the randomness here works
The generator draws from the random number source built into your browser and keeps sampling until each line holds the right count of distinct numbers. It is perfectly adequate for picking numbers to play or for a raffle draw.
It is not a cryptographic source, so do not use it for anything security related: passwords, tokens, keys or identifiers. For those jobs use the password generator or the UUID generator, which are built for exactly that. If you want to check the arithmetic behind the odds quoted above for yourself, the percentage calculator handles the divisions.
FAQ
Can this tool predict winning numbers?
No. Every line is generated at random and is not based on previous draws, patterns, or any statistical model. Each valid combination has the same probability.
Which games are supported?
Powerball (five numbers from 1 to 69 plus a Powerball from 1 to 26), Mega Millions (five from 1 to 70 plus a Mega Ball from 1 to 25), and Lotto 6/49 (six numbers from 1 to 49).
Are the numbers in each line unique?
Yes. Every line is built from non-repeating numbers, and the count matches the format of the game you selected, so the line is valid on a real slip.
Does it matter which numbers I choose?
Not for your chance of winning, which is identical for every combination. It can matter for how much you would keep, because lines built from low numbers such as birthdays are picked by more people and are therefore split more often.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The numbers are generated in your browser and nothing is uploaded, stored, or attached to your account, because there is no account.
